19/09/11 - Ruth Lee Ltd celebrate 60 years in business and gain an Investors in People Gold award!

Ruth Lee Ltd of Corwen, Denbighshire has two very good reasons to celebrate this week. Firstly, on Friday 23rd September they will be celebrating their diamond anniversary of trading. They have come a long way since their humble beginnings in Liverpool back in 1951. Started by Ron Lee, father of Managing Director Susan Edwards and Company Secretary Lawrence Lee,  as a pram repair and renovation company, the company diversified when Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service approached the company to repair their training dummy made of hessian sacking and firehose! Ron and his wife Ruth, whom the company is named after, decided to start making new, more realistic dummies and over the years the company has gone from strength to strength and has established itself as the leading manufacturer of Rescue Training Dummies in Europe.

Part of the success of the business can be attributed to the way in which they treat their staff. This has been recognised by Ruth Lee Ltd being awarded the Investors in People Gold Award in their recent assessment.

Susan Edwards, Managing Director, said “We are extremely pleased to not only be celebrating 60 successful years of trading, but we’ve also just been awarded the Investors in People Gold award which is testament to our commitment to our staff.”

“We believe that our staff are the key to our success and this award confirms that our hard work and that of the staff has paid off. We are proud to be part of the local community and will continue to be involved in any way that we can.”

04/07/11 - Ruth Lee celebrates it's 50,000th Manikin!

Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service have taken delivery of Ruth Lee Ltd of Corwen, Denbighshire, 50,000th Rescue Training Manikin.

Director of Ruth Lee Ltd, Lawrence Lee, presented the manikin to Head of Policy, Planning and Resilience Community, Phil Hales and said “Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were one of the first Fire Authorities to take delivery of our rescue training manikins over 30 years ago and it’s only appropriate that they take delivery of our 50,000th manikin.

“It’s quite a milestone for us but with the increase in the export market I’m sure that it won’t be long until we hit the 60,000 mark!

“It goes to show how far we as a company have progressed over the years and it’s with the help and support of the men and women at the fire fighter training centres, such as this one in Winsford, that we are able to continually improve our products.”
